Global Tracheostomy Practice Academy (GTPA) 

A full day of intermediate/advanced level training consisting of expert clinicians from across the globe, delivering on best practice and the current evidence base within tracheostomy management. We will follow the patient journey from ICU to ward level care exploring how the MDT can optimise care and weaning. The event will follow a 1-day programme, beginning with an ICU management focus, before moving to topics relating to ward level care and an overall theme of weaning. We will also have a breakout workshop on ‘The Inner Value’ to provide exposure to our Twist/Twist Plus tubes.

Practice Academy learning outcomes

• Discussion of best practice techniques in post tracheotomy management
• Discussion of Pulmonary health and how a tracheostomy effects this
• An exploration into the various methods of effectively managing Pulmonary health in patients with a tracheostomy
• A review and deep dive into evidence based therapies within tracheostomy weaning
• Introduce a structured method to delivering tracheostomy competency training to staff within the acute setting
• To highlight and explore how geographical and regional differences can pose different challenges to the above.
